Founders Club

Located in quaint, quiet Pawleys Island, America’s oldest seaside resort, the Founders Club at Pawleys Island immediately impresses you with the striking beauty of the 9th hole, the first hole you see as you enter the golf club. A beautiful, well-laid-out hole, it makes a strong statement and sparks the most comments from visitors. And it sets the tone for what is to come. The Founders Club at Pawleys Island earned distinction as Myrtle Beach Golf Course of the Year in 2011 by the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association. In both 2009 and 2011, the Founders Club was deemed one of the 30 Best Courses You can Play in South Carolina by the South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel. Our 18-hole, Par 72 course was constructed by former Gary Player lead designer Thomas Walker atop Gene Hamm’s original flat course at the former Sea Gull Golf Club, which dates back to 1966 and was the fourth oldest course in the Grand Strand. Although this is a difficult course, with 5 tees you can enjoy a relaxing game or challenge yourself. The strategic nature of the course will bring you back time after time to try out a different plan of attack. Natural beach sand fills the waste areas and native grasses, such as love and bluestem, populate the mounds and waste areas. Cart paths are kept to a minimum on this “ocean-style” course, which gives golfers a unique coastal-feel golfing experience – and makes the course senior friendly. Wetlands, live oaks, and pines add further aesthetic value to the course. We are proud of our world-class putting and chipping facility. The putting area is very large, 11,000 feet, and with our chipping facility, you can simulate hitting out of waste hazards. Our 5,000 square foot Lowcountry-style clubhouse features a wrap-around porch that overlooks the 10th and 18th holes and houses our comfortable upscale Grill Room and well-stocked Pro Shop. Our staff is like family, and you will soon feel like family, too.
